Description

Unit Name– 37th Legion “Beskar Brigade”

Allegiance – Galactic Republic, Galactic Empire (shortly), Mandalorians

Branch – Army

Type – Elite Assault Force

Headquarters:

“Our home in Mandallia, as we wonder the galaxy we always know we have a place to return to.” Sergeant Lee

While there, the brigade does maintain a barracks on Coruscant, known as the Sigma Division Barracks belonging to the 37th legion they live here while on the planet.

While not much more than an outpost and training camp, Te Ruug’la Oriya or “The Old City,” on Mandallia is held in high regards by the men in the Beskar Brigade. Located in the Northern Hemisphere on the Vorpan Planes, Te Ruug’la Oriya, is a small ghost town near large open fields, mountains and forests, it was abandoned during the Mandalorian Civil War 40 years earlier. The city and the surrounding areas act as the stone that the clones of the Beskar Brigade are sharpened on through rigorous training.

After the brigade left the city, to face combat, after completing their training on Kamino, these new recruits are first sent to the Mandallia training camp to receive the same training their predecessors had.

Leaders:

-Brigadier General Andis Meyer (Mandalorian Mercenary)

-Brigadier General Starla Winter (Former Jedi Knight)

-Senior Clone Commander Sherman

-Captain Jones

Size: 9,216+

Because of the constant flow of new replacements swelling into the ranks, coupled with their low casualties, the brigade has become much larger than its original size. All replacements spend 1 to 2 months going through the training course on Mandilla before they join the unit.

Colors: Blue & Black

Nicknames: “Beskar Brigade.” or ‘Beskar Bastards,” or “the Double B’s.”

-Beskar Brigade: The Beskar Brigade was the name given to them by Andis Meyer upon the completion of their training.

-Beskar Bastards: Because of their fearsome reputation as they smash any Separatist resistance they meet and their pillaging, they are hated by the Separatists who will sometimes call them the Beskar Bastards, a name the clones have actually grown quite fond of.

-The Double B’s: Some clones may informally refer to themselves as the Double B’s as a shortened version of their full name.

Motto – “From Valor to Victory.”

Unofficial Motto – “If you don’t got grit, you ain’t worth shit.”

Mascot: Strill

The Strill is a Mandalorian animal often kept as a pet; they are highly intelligent and ferocious predators. With their own ferocity and close ties with the Mandalorians, the brigade chose it as their mascot.

In particular one young strill pup, Rus a strill pup is seen as their mascot. Rus belongs to Andis and Starla; this beloved strill is doted upon by everyone in the Brigade and has even attained the rank of sergeant. When not at its master’s side, it can often be seen trotting around the Relentless or bathing in the love and attention it receives from the soldiers of the brigade.

Battles:

-Clone Wars- Among a few of the many battles they fought in includes Wayland, Chalcedon, Jaguada, Mrisst, Kabal, Serenno, and Trumole, and participated in the Battle of Rishi along side other units. Utilizing small, Special Forces units, the Beskar Brigade has performed numerous sabotage operations such as those on Caramm V and Charros IV. As the was continued, they fought on Ord Janon, JanFathal, Agamar, Zygerria, Raxus, Jaminere, Ord Trasi, Tarabba Prime, and Vandyne. Their final battle of the war was at Tar Morden.

-Galactic Civil War- The Beskar Brigade remained secretly active during the Galactic Civil War; fighting under the command of their generals they struck blows against the Empire in small commando units. After Palpatine’s death, they revealed themselves and began fighting in more battles against the Empire.

-Yuuzhan Vong War- The Brigade began to fight at the Battle of Mandalore, engaging enemy warships in orbit over the planet before receiving Intel of reinforcements by way of the Gargon Path. After that, they fought in many battles until the war drew to a close.

Decorations:

The 37th Legion is one of the most decorated units in the Grand Army of the Republic, having receive 8 Chancellors Unit Citations, 7 Combat Action Honors, 7 Distinguished Service Awards, 5 Chancellor's Service Medals, 14 Steel Cross Honors, and 12 Senatorial Medal of Honor. Many of these decorations can be seen on display aboard their flagship, the Relentless.

Role/Mission:

“We take the fight to the separatists.”- Lieutenant Spencer

The 37th Legion’s role is that of an elite assault force, utilizing combined arms tactics and special operations detachments. It is known for its power projection often leading strikes deep into Separatist controlled space and taking the fight directly to the enemy.

The Brigade serves as elite strike force and expeditionary unit, conducting raids and leading attacks that break the back of the separatists. Their brilliant strategists and aggressive attacks coupled with the special training they were given has made the 37th Beskar Brigade one of the most feared legions in the galaxy.

Capabilities:

“We will be the spear that pierces the heart of the Confederacy.”- Andis Meyer

The Beskar Brigade’s soldiers are considered to be one of the Republic’s finest military units. These quality elite troops are put through their paces on Mandallia passing a brutal training course; they become some of the deadliest soldiers on the battlefield.

The Beskar Brigade is well known as an expeditionary unit, piercing deep into separatist space and lead the way for the Republic forces behind them. The Brigade is very self-reliant, venturing deep into enemy space; they forage and “commandeer” food, fuel, and supplies as they go.

They are capable of both conventional and unconventional warfare of all types, the Brigade is known for its rapid deployment and strike force operations, often coming to the rescue of fellow clone units in the jaws of defeat, some see them as guardian angels.

The Brigade most often operates in regimental or battalion sized units during normal operations. These units are then usually divided into company sized or smaller units to go after various targets. They break off from the main fleet, strike their targets, then return and continue on to the next battle. In the event of large-scale operations, the entire legion will attack often with devastating effects for the enemy.

The 37th Legion act independently of the Grand Army of the Republic, no Jedi has authority over them, operating under the direct command of Brigadier Generals Andis Meyer and Starla Winter. Because the Beskar Brigade has no Jedi officers in it, because of this; the unit acts different in their combat operations, not restrained by the ethics of the Jedi, as a result the Brigade is ruthless in their combat tactics. By the end of the war their loyalty is to their generals and not the republic or the Chancellor.

The men of the brigade are highly intelligent, and are encouraged to continue learning new things. They are while on Mandallia they were taught to be clever and to think outside the box of conventional warfare. Every officer is taught to be a skilled strategist and to take the initiative. These officers are capable of leading their units into the battle and devising new deadly tactics.

The Beskar Brigade puts a premium on marksmanship. At the beginning of their training on Mandallia, a significant portion is spent on the rifle range, to the point that by the end of Stage 1, using the standard DC-15A Rifle, every trooper is easily capable of shooting the head off a battle droid at over 600 meters, even while on the move.

These talented riflemen use these weapons to great extent and are often able to take out their enemy before they are even in range, often killing with the first shot. With the addition of advanced scopes, such as the Calagar, their range is extended even further. Their superior range and accuracy, is often used in their Overwatch fire support tactics. As the main infantry units advance, the men in the rear serve as sharpshooters, picking off the enemy and forcing them down so the infantry can advance.

Every clone trooper in the 37th legion is an expert marksmen, even the cooks, clerks, and pilots, and in the event of combat, they pick up a blaster and fight as easily as the rest of the men. Pilots are known to carry a DC-15A Rifle in their craft during air-to-ground operations so that in the event they are shot down or forced to eject, they can pick up their rifles and continue the fight on the ground.

Trained to be as versatile as they are deadly, the Brigade is capable of numerous tactics; Assaults, Urban Warfare, Combined Arms, Jungle Warfare, Desert Warfare, Mountain Warfare, Arctic Warfare, Maritime combat, Interdiction, Boarding parties, Small Unit Tactics, and countless other military tactics. They also train in various skills such as Close Quarters Combat, Demolitions and Explosives, Marksmanship and Snipers, Field first aid and Medics, and Pilots.

The 37th Legion is at their deadliest in their use of their infamous Combined Arms tactics. Combined Arms warfare integrates the different branches of the military to achieve mutually complementary effects. By combining of infantry, armor, artillery, reconnaissance, along side gunship, fighter and bomber support as well as naval elements, all coordinated and directed by a unified command structure, they use their various strengths support each other as they crush the enemy.

Special Forces:

“If you think the infantry of the Beskar Brigade is scary, just wait until you meet our Special Forces.”- Sergeant Lee

The 37th Legion is also known to use Special Forces to great extent. They will often use small elite units of commandos and experts to go behind enemy lines and wreak havoc. They perform sabotage, assassinations, reconnaissance, black ops, intelligence gathering and many other clandestine operations. These Special Forces often operate independently of the bulk of the Brigade on missions, in advance of them, or aiding other units of the GAR. Their commanding officers Andis Meyer and Starla Winter often operate with in one of these Special Forces units.

The Special Forces are particularly talented at sabotage. These units will often use non-standard issue ships to transport these teams across the galaxy, as to draw less attention. They will use these ships to slip onto an enemy world and infiltrate the defenses, wrecking cannon power systems or destroying shield generators, weakening their ability to defend against the arrival of the main body of the Beskar Brigade. The Brigade also provides their services in sabotage against their droid and weapons factories worlds such as Caramm V and Charros IV have felt the bite of their sabotage operations.

Budget:

“Thank you my gracious senators, this generous contribution to the 37th Legion will help to end the war much sooner, you have our thanks.”- Lieutenant Psi manipulating the Military Finance Board.

The Brigade always has issues with the budget, they are constantly competing with other units and services to gain more military. Andis appointed a slick tongued Lieutenant named Psi, a psychological expert, skilled at manipulating both the enemy and the Military Finance Board of the Grand Army of the Republic. Psi helps to get more funding for all the supplies the 37th Legion needs.

Another comes form the Brigade’s looting, they will steal valuables and sell them to make a profit which they then use to supply the Beskar Brigade with better gear, materials for the modification of weapons, vehicles, and equipment, as well as food. In comparison with the other units’ military rations the brigade has the best food in the army.

Relationship with other Units:

“You could say were like the 501st, only better.”- Commander Sherman

While the Beskar Brigade is part of the Grand Army of the Republic, they have consistently sought to maintain its own identity with regards to mission, funding, and assets, while utilizing the support available from the larger branches. While the legion maintains their independence, some of their combat duties overlap with the other units, and are often competing for funding, missions, and renown. This brings them into interactions with other clone units.

The Beskar Brigade has few if any instillations in the galaxy, using only the Mandallia training grounds and Coruscant as their bases. Constantly on the move they consider the fleet to be their base, but when they do make landfall at a Republic military outpost, they will bunk and interact with other units.

The 37th legion tends to be competitive. Constantly striving to attain fame and glory, their competitive nature has pushed them to the forefront of the war, they have fought along side many units and have developed different opinions about them. The Beskar Brigade gets along very well with the with the 327th Star Corps and the 21th Nova Corps, better known as the Galactic Marines, having fought along side both units, they share a mutual respect.

The brigade is very competitive with the 501st legion, having received special training by Palpatine’s staff to make them the most feared legion in the galaxy, the 501st higher casualty rate makes the 37th Legion see themselves as the better half. The two legions are constantly trying to out due each other. This is also because of Andis’ own dislike of their leader Anakin Skywalker. The 37th is known to mock the 501st at various parts in time.

The 37th Legion has participated in various combat exercises and war games both along side and against their fellow clone trooper units. During War game exercises, against other units, they will use standard GAR issue gear and weaponry, to prove that not only are the best with their gear, but they are the beat without it as well. They enjoy going up against the 501st Legion in particular.

Andis and Starla butt heads with Jedi Generals in the field. Many of these Jedi Generals disapprove of the tactics they employ, among many other disagreements, as the 37th Legion tramples over the Jedi Code.

In the public eye:

“The men of the Beskar Brigade bravely march into the heartland of the enemy, with Jedi bringing up the rear.”- Lieutenant Miks to a holonet station host on current operations.

The Beskar Brigade is regarded as one of the most prestigious military units in the GAR, along side their rivals of the 501st Legion. After the raid on Serenno during Operation Spearhead, they captured the public’s imagination and attained almost celebrity status. They are also RSO favorites, and the clones couldn’t enjoy that anymore if they tried.

Lieutenant Miks acts as the Public Relations man, he is in charge of showing the Brigade in the public’s eye and to get support and fame of the unit on the home front and the battlefront.

Insignia – A pair of Kukri crossed with a long sword running down the middle and the numbers 3 and 7 on it.

Mottos and battle cries –

-“From Valor to Victory.” The motto of the 37th Legion.

-“If you don’t got grit, you ain’t worth shit.” The unofficial motto of the brigade, it means that you need bravery and toughness to be worth anything on the battlefield.

-“No grit, No shit!” A common battle cry of the Beskar Brigade derived from their unofficial motto.

-“We shoot, you scoot” Originated as a comment from a member of the 37th legion to a clone of the 501st legion during the latter’s retreat, it was because of the bravery and skill of that small detachment of the 37th that victory was salvaged. This saying eventually became synonymous with them charging in where others run away.

-“Jatnese be te jatnese” Mando’a for “Best of the best,” As a way to signify the 37th Legion as better than the rest.

-“You poke, we smash.” A common saying in the Beskar Brigade, meaning that in many cases the Jedi code prevents them from achieving victory, but the 37th is.

History:

“No other unit has been more revered or reviled, the Beskar Brigade has struck frear in countless armies in numerous wars, those who wish to fight them will regret it.”- Andis Meyer

The 37th Legion was formed after the Battle of Geonosis. Jedi Master Yoda personally chose to hire Mandalorian mercenary Andis Meyer and Former Jedi Knight Starla Winter to lead this unit of clones. After they were given command, Andis immediately put them through a training course with the help of Mandalorian advisors.

At the training camp, the clone troopers of the 37th Legion were honed to a razor’s edge, becoming an elite unit, and upon completion of the course, Andis gave them the name Beskar Brigade and it stuck.

Upon completion of the course, the Beskar Brigade rampaged across the galaxy, gaining a fearsome reputation very quickly. Their first battle was at Trumole where they went up against the elite Trumolian Defense Force defending capital of Volgaris, prior to the arrival of the 37th Legion; the city had been besieged for 2 months in a bloody stalemate. In one swift move the Beskar Brigade crushed the city in 30 minutes.

Shortly after the battle of Trumole, the brigade began their expeditionary campaigns into Separatist space, their first target, Serenno. Serenno, Count Dooku’s homeworld, was seen as the perfect target to send a message to the Confederacy of Independent Systems, in what would become known as Operation Spearhead. The small blockade defending the planet was easily ambushed and destroyed. They landed on the planet and quickly defeated the Serennian military.

After which the clones looted and pillaged the planet, reeking havoc through the streets, they destroyed buildings indiscriminately and even strip Dooku’s mansion bare before burning it to the ground. After which they hastily left the planet in ruins carrying the wealth of the planet with them as their plunder. In the aftermath of the battle, Dooku had Serenno heavily blockaded to prevent another strike.

Among their endeavors are the securing Wayland for the Republic, as well as Chalcedon, Jaguada, Mrisst, Kabal, and Ord Janon. They also participated in the Battle of Rishi. According to various surveys, the 37th Beskar Brigade has lowest casualties of any unit and highest success rate of any unit in the GAR.

The Beskar Brigade’s Special Forces units were deployed to numerous worlds, conducting operations or in advance of them, or aiding other units of the GAR. Small units of the Beskar Brigade also preformed sabotage operations on Caramm V and Charros IV.

The Beskar Brigade later invaded JanFathal, Agamar, and Zygerria where after they were all plundered; these planets were then occupied by Republic forces bringing up the rear. The Brigade then made its way to Raxus, the capital of the CIS, alongside other units; they smashed through the planet and took control of it. In the aftermath, the clones of the 37th began to pillage, much to the displeasure of the Jedi officers of the other units. This battle also forced the separatists to move the capital to Cato Neimoidia.

As the war was drawing to a close, they participated in the Outer Rim Sieges. They attacked Jaminere, Ord Trasi, Tarabba Prime, Vandyne, and smashing a hole for other republic forces to follow. During the battle of Battle of Coruscant, the Beskar Brigade was leading the Battle of Tar Morden, where they captured tens of thousands of LM-432 crab droids from a factory.

By the time of the time of Order 66, the entire legion was loyal to Andis and Starla, not the Emperor or the Republic, rather than submit to the will of the emperor they chose to desert. Andis had his own predictions about the end of the war and he began to use military assets to construct secrete, hidden storage units on Mandallia to hide munitions, supplies, and vehicles for a later time.

While the Emperor was consolidating power, the Brigade was conspiring on how to leave the new Imperial Army. The plan they came up with was, faking the annihilation of the legion. Stashing most of their air and ground vehicles and vessels in these units until there was only one Venator-class Star Destroyer left, the Victor. The Victor sent out a distress signal claiming their systems were damaged and the fleet was being pulled into the sun. After the signal was sent the, the Victor was remotely piloted into the sun. After which the many of the clones settled in the Mandalorian Sector, with their own credo, “When the generals call upon us, we shall respond.”

Andis would become a frequent visitor to Kyrimorut. Well aware of what was going on at the Skirata clan’s stronghold. Andis also had an interest in finding the cure for the accelerated aging his troops also suffered from, feeling that they deserved to live a full life. In exchange for the cure his troops would eventually receive, the Brigade would help supply the remote stronghold. After they received the cure, Andis had it spliced to slow down their aging, giving them back the years wrongfully taken from them.

The Brigade would remain secretly active throughout the Galactic Civil War, fighting against the Imperials in small units alongside their Generals. After the death of the Emperor, the Brigade began to come out of hiding in full force, becoming an ally to the Rebel Alliance; they would fight against the Imperial Remnant. Under the leadership of Andis and Starla, along with the Sherman and the other clone Commanders, they helped cleanse the Mandalore System of Imperial taint.

When the Yuuzhan Vong attacked in 29ABY, the Brigade was reactivated; the 37th Legion’s Fleet emerged from Mandallia to take the Vong head on. Their well maintained and upgraded Venators, Acclamators, and Munificents went up against the Vong at the Battle of Gargon Path; they slaughtered the second wave of Yuuzhan Vong reinforcements that were heading for Mandalore. They would then go on to hunt Yuuzhan Vong Worldships and slay armies of Yuuzhan Vong. After the war ended, they assisted in rebuilding the Mandalorian system.

Equipment

“The gear we gets sweet, but it’s our skills that pays the bills.”- Lieutenant Sharps

As with any army the 37th Legion, need its gear to get things done. Carrying the standard issue weapons and equipment carried by the other units of the GAR they went into battle. After the beginning battles they began adopting and utilizing special equipment and weapons not financed by the Republic. As the General of the Brigade, Andis was unsatisfied much of the gear supplied to his troops by the standard production companies, so he began looking for other alternatives and better gear to give his men the advantage in battle.

The Brigade is known for their ingenuity, they are constantly modifying and upgrading their weapons, gear, and vehicles. As can be seen with the “Brigade Special.” Anything and everything the brigade gets its hands on they tinker and experiment with. They are constantly upgrading and modifying their weapons, gear, and vehicles.

One of the brilliant master minds of the brigades special gear ins that of Lieutenant Jarka, who heads up the designing and testing of new weapons and gear for the brigade to use, such as the Brigade Special.

Armor: [link] The Clone Troopers of the Beskar Brigade wear a modified style of Phase I clone trooper armor, using a thickened chest plate for added protection against blaster fire, projectiles, and fragmentation. The making of this thickened composite plates were expensive but helped to reduce the already low casualty rates of the Brigade. After receiving their Phase II armor they did the same thing and modified it. The armor has a base paint of matte grey, with blue and black markings.

Boots: Another modification of their armor is their specialized combat boots. All the men wear a pair of special all terrain boots, these armored, high grip boots are, rugged and durable. They are capable of climbing the steepest slope or moving through the harsh deserts, wetlands, and arctic conditions they might encounter. One of the most noticeable ways to tell the difference between the clones of the Beskar Brigade and those of another unit are these boots.

Clone Cold Assault Armor: In the case of combat in extreme cold weather the brigade changes form, their standard armor to a set of snowtrooper armor. While the boots and knee plates stay the same many other parts are changed out, the grey base paint is gone, replaced by white. The black and blue stripes and spikes are outlines and less bold as to blend in better with the surroundings.

Kama: As soon as he took command of the brigade he saw the value of using kama or “belt spats” for added protection and gear carrying, and immediately sent in a request for kama for the grunts of the Brigade, the Request was denied on the count that only ARC Troopers and Commanders could wear kama at that point in time of the war. As a result, Andis got a contract with Sandillo Armors to supply kama to the troops, and paid them with funds stolen from the CIS. By the middle of the war, many clones of the Beskar Brigade were seen to be wearing Kama, as well and Pauldrons.

Knee Plates: The knee plates of the Beskar Brigade are pointed knee plate and are used in hand-to-hand combat; the point is often rammed into the torso, gut, or leg of the opponent.

Modular Tactical Jacket: When conducting special operations where standard armor would draw too much attention, they wear an armored tactical vest that allows for mobility and protection as well as concealment. This ballistic vest also allows for armored inserts to increase protection.

Modular Shielded Pack “Pack”- Simply known as the “Pack,” its modular design can mount numerous attachments and comes in different sizes heavier types for long campaign style battles, while supplies may be scarce and lighter designs for fast assaults and mobility. Durable, comfortable, and surprisingly uncomplex, this pack made by Arkan Outdoors is very popular among the troops, and can be seen in use everywhere they go. Some of its most popular attachments include Grenade Canisters, Magazine Feeder Packs, and Water Hydration Pack.

Clothing- When not in their armor, they might wear the standard fatigues that are supplied by the GAR, dyed blue and black, but many clones will also purchase their own clothing using funds stolen from the CIS.

Other Equipment:

Many clones in the Beskar Brigade have been trained in the use of jetpacks, utilizing them to gain altitude or get the jump on the enemy.

Hydration is key in maintaining effectiveness on the battlefield the troops are given survival kits including a water purification device, as well they carry canteens and hydration packs. To maintain energy in the field, they also carry field rations, a far cry from the food they pillage from the Separatists, and so the rations are only used when needed.

An entrenching tool or “E-tool” is supplied to all the troops to prepare defensive fighting positions. They also carry built in gauntlet Comlinks and Chronometers. Tactical light, rifle slings are also items they might employ.

Along with their helmet seals and filters, special suits to protect against contaminants. The brigade also keeps a hold of a large number and assortment of auto injectors and antidote kits to fight against chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear agents.

Grenade Canister- The Grenade Canister is a shielded tube used to carry a number of grenades and thermal detonators across the battlefield, quickly and easily, and is often faster to use than other methods. These are mounted on side of backpack, reach back to grab a grenade pushing down on a special two button system, a grenade falls out and can be used however seen fit. The canister can also be able to set off all at once if set up prior to do so, similar to using a satchel charge

Each soldier carries a small medical kit known as Field First Aid Kit, or “FAK,” it contains bacta, dressings, and more, it is used for immediate battlefield treatment.

They use sleeping mats purchased from a high-end outdoors company, these mats are not only comfortable but also durable. These are normally used in the field when portable shelters are not available.

Infantry Weapons:

“One of the great things about combat is what you can learn, how to improve, and how to sling it back at the enemy”- Commander Sherman

If the clones of the Beskar Brigade are the fists of the republic, than their weapons are the claws. The brigade utilizes a number of standard issue and non-standard issue weapons, anything and everything the brigade gets its hands on they tinker and experiment with. They are constantly upgrading and modifying their weapons, gear, and vehicles, making improvements and increasing their lethality.

Assault Rifles & Carbines- The Beskar Brigade prefers to use high-powered and accurate rifles, among the most preferred are DC-15A Blaster Rifles with special sights, enhanced WESTAR-M5 Blaster Rifles, and A280 blaster rifles. The men of the 37th Legion are talented riflemen and use these weapons to great extent and are often able to take out their enemy before they are even in range.

The standard infantry weapon of the Beskar Brigade is the DC-15A blaster rifle. The sights are modified, giving the already talented marksmen greater range; the rate of fire is also adjusted, giving it semi or full auto capabilities. Some also carry the DC-15s carbine, modified, less popular because of lack of power compared to that of the DC-15A Rifle.

Bladed Weapons - Every single solider in the Brigade carries a combat knife. Many of the clones will carry several ranging from a large combat knife for fighting and utility purposes to various purpose built fighting knives.

In addition to these, the officers also carry a kukri given to them by Andis, but by later in the year, most if not all the troopers are also each equipped with one. These, along with many other types of knives carried by the troops are mass-produced by Clan Meyer from a contract Andis gave his clan to supply them, as they are the best bladesmiths in the galaxy. This knife is made of special steel and is capable of taking the head off a battle droid.

By the middle of the war, in order to fight against a potential lightsaber-wielding adversary, a number of clones were equipped with special vibroswords, and personally taught by Andis in bladed combat.

Pistols- Everyman in the Beskar Brigade carries a sidearm. By the early months of the conflict, the Brigade had already modified their belts with a holster. The standard side arm is the DC-17 Heavy Blaster Pistol, but other popular models include the DC-15 Blaster Pistol and the powerful DL-44 Heavy Blaster Pistol.

Sniper Rifles- As elite marksmen the Beskar Brigade also uses sniper rifles to great effect. Killing at extreme distanced, these designated snipers carry several different sniper rifles including the DC-15x Sniper Rifle, DC-17m Sniper, and the IQA-11 blaster rifle. The most common of these is the DC-15x Sniper Rifle; the Brigade modified the rifle by giving it enhanced scopes and increasing the magazine capacity of the rifle from 6 shots to 15.

Rapid Fire- The Beskar Brigade is the living manifestation of firepower, high rates of fire along with their accuracy gives them lethal precision with these weapons. They started off with modifying and improving the weapons they were supplied by the Republics arsenal, such as the Z-6 Rotary Blaster Cannon. The Z-6 was an instant favorite with the troops, the rotating barrels helped to increase the rate of fire. But even with that, they weren’t satisfied, so they tore the chain guns apart, removed, adding or modifying various parts, as well as replacing the barrels, the blaster cannon got an increased rate of fire, at higher power and better efficiency.

Other weapons they carry are the Alapin-2 “Big Al” General Purpose Automatic Blaster and the Calahoon 7-a Light Automatic Blaster are two popular blaster rifles. Purchased from Togitan Arms, these were seen in small numbers on the battlefields.

A Beskar Brigade original, built in the workshops onboard their star destroyers, the DC-15r “Dragon” Rapid Fire Carbine is a very popular and unique weapon they carry. At its base it’s nothing more than a heavily modified DC-15s Blaster Carbine. It is given a complete overhaul, gutting and replacing most pieces with better materials that are capable of withstanding the extreme forces that are placed on the weapon. These materials are extremely expensive and are one reason why the Brigade is known for looting Separatist cities, such as Volgaris. The Dragon requires a coolant system so it doesn’t over heat, which it without it, it would do so in about 4-8 seconds depending on environmental conditions of the combat zone. The carbine carries a large magazine, capable providing the blaster to continue spewing its deadly bolts for a long period of time. The recoil absorbing stock- First models were fixed, by mid war; there was an assortment of stocks it could use.

Hand Grenades/Detonators- The Brigade utilizes a number of different hand grenades and detonators depending on what is called for. Among a few they carry are the fragmentation grenade, the thermal detonator, the smoke grenade, and incendiary grenades.

Mlapan Grenade is a special incendiary grenade filled with a volatile flammable liquid and an explosive; the primary purpose of the explosive is to ignite the liquid and to send it flying. As the Beskar Brigade often goes up against the elite and battle hardened “organic” units of the Separatist Army, they found this incendiary weapon to be of great use. It is also very handy in destroying materials and factories.

Grenade Launchers- Under-barrel grenade launchers are also very popular weapons, as they give small units much more firepower and can be used in indirect and direct fire, making them very versatile on the battlefield. By late in the first year of the war, grenade launchers had begun to make more appearances within the ranks of the Beskar Brigade.

Missile Launchers- Firepower is something the Beskar Brigade does very well at, and within their arsenal includes a variety of direct-fire and indirect-fire rocket and missiles launchers providing infantry with offensive and defensive capabilities against armor. The most popular models they use are the PLX-1 portable missile launchers and the RPS-6 rocket launchers both of which can be fitted with anti-vehicle, anti-personnel, anti-air, and multi-purpose missiles and rockets.

Other

The 37th Legion also utilizes other weapons such as the BT X-42 flamethrower, Mortar launchers, Shotguns, mines and various explosives

They also carry a unique weapon known simply as the “Brigade Special,” a modified Reciprocating Quad Blaster or Cip-Quad. The Brigade created this by taking one barrel of the weapon, place it in a housing connected to a rifle stock, and placing the power cell underneath the barrel. The Brigade Special is far more mobile than the Cip-Quad, and is more capable of engaging infantry.

Shield Penetrating Exploding Projectile “SPEP”

The Shield Penetrating Exploding Projectile (SPEP) “Pepper,” is a special slug used to penetrate shields and subsequently detonate. The shield acts as the triggering device, and in milliseconds, the SPEP detonates within the shield, destroying the target. Its primary purpose is to destroy to Destroyer Droids. The SPEP is fired using the grappling attachment that can be added to the under-barrel of the DC-15 rifle. The Pepper is a rather slow moving projectile, best used against stationary shields or Destroyer Droids, and not as effective against fast moving targets.

Calagar Sight- The Calagar Sight is an adjustable Short to Medium to Long-range sight mounted on a variety of the Brigade’s weapons. It adjusts for changes in range, etc. It replaced the scope sight below the DC-15A Blaster Rifles and is the most popular sight for that rifle.

Snag Sight- The Snag Sight is a Red dot type sight used on numerous weapons in the Brigade. It is mounted on weapons such as the DC-15A Blaster Rifle, DC-15s Carbine, DC-15 Repeating Carbine, Westar M-5 Blaster Rifle, Brigade Special, and many other weapons.

It is best suited for medium and close range combat as the sighting system was not designed for long ranged kills, but is capable of achieving these. It is very popular with the troops.

Vehicles

All vehicles bare the colors of the Beskar Brigade, blue & black to mark their unit, many will also have their insignia painted on it.

Naval assets

“Lets give’em hell boys, we’ll light that planet like the star of Mandalore.”- Captain Bull before the beginning of an orbital bombardment.

Battleships, Destroyers and Cruisers

The main battleships and transports the 37h Legion uses are the Venator-class Star Destroyers and the Acclamator I and II-class assault ships. Many of which have been heavily modified often adding more powerful shields and more heavy batteries, including taking weapons from enemy star ships they just destroyed. One of the most popular are the 2 heavy turbolaser cannons on the prow Munificent-class star frigates. Many of the star destroyers have several of these big guns on them

The fleet of the brigade is manned by a skeleton crew very few men operate any systems onboard the ships, many times only the bridge and gunner systems are manned by clones, even on a Venator, much of the work is done by reprogrammed battle droids, giving the troops more fighting capability instead of dealing with things maintenance and operating ship systems. These battle droids are also given intelligence upgrades, making them far more effective then their dim-witted Separatist counterparts. These droids are also painted grey, blue, and black, to identify them as 37th Legion property and so the Brigade’s clone troopers don’t shoot them on sight.

They are also known to utilize captured and repurposed Munificent-class star frigates. The clones will board the ships, slaughter the crew and take control of the ship. These commandeered vessels are then used against their former allies. In the beginning they’d be used these ships to ambush other separatist fleets, fooling the enemy, they get close up and open fire at point blank range annihilating every thing in their path. They would also feign distress and dock with a fellow Munificent where the clones would then commandeer that ship too. Their maritime activities against the separatists war machine, and make some enemy personnel see them more as pirates than as soldiers, in on such event, an CIS Admiral called Generals Andis and Starla as “Nothing more than pirate captains.” The brigade takes pride in the fear they instill in their naval enemies.

The fleet also contains a number of smaller escort ships such as the Arquitens-class light cruiser, Pelta-Class Frigate and a few CR90 Corvettes and GR-75 Medium Transports, these ships are also all skeleton crewed and have modified weapons systems and give them the ability to fight alongside larger warships. These ships usually serve as the logistics supporters of the Brigade holding supplies such as supplies, fuel, and medical services.

Starfighters/Aerial Combat

The Brigade operates a number of starfighters, and serves as the frontline defenses of the Brigade’s fleet and pivotal in ground support. At the beginning of the war, V-19 Torrent starfighter was the main and only fighter used by the Grand Army of the Republic, but as soon as newer craft were available, they began phasing out the Torrent in favor of the newer models.

The 37th Legion maintains a large variety of fighters, including the V-wing starfighter, ARC-170 starfighter, Y-wing starfighter and bomber, Eta-2 Actis-class interceptor, and Z-95 Headhunter. These are often modified as soon as they are received; these fighters are fitted with custom weapons, making them all the more lethal.

The brigade has a number of aces, but none better than Corporal Zapper. He is considered to be the most talented starfighter ace in the Brigade, he favors the Z-95 Headhunter, but is also at home in a V-wing starfighter or an Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor.

Their infamous maneuver, the “Zoom Boom,” has claimed a number of Providence-class Destroyers and the lives countless Separatist personnel. A number of squads fly down the sides of the ship, unleashing their payload, under the massive firepower, the ship’s shield gives way, and a heavily modified V-wing starfighter speeds down the middle and sends a bomb flying into the now defenseless bridge, destroying the ship.

The starfighters are also an integral part of the Beskar Brigade’s combined arms fighting style, using the starfighters to act as air support, strafing enemy lines and doing bombing runs. These close air strikes help to break the back of the enemy.

Dropships and Landing Craft

“There isn’t anything more ugly or beautiful in this galaxy than a LAAT Killer, she’s meaner than a dire cat with its ass on fire.”- Corporal Sparrow

Dropships are an important part of the Beskar Brigade’s inventory, utilizing the Low Altitude Assault Transport variants (infantry, carrier, etc), the High-Altitude Entry Transport-221, and some CR-25 troop carriers. These are key in rapidly deploying the planetary assaults and supporting the troops.

The popular Low Altitude Assault Transport or “LAAT” plays a very important role in many of the brigade’s operations. These gunships are used to fly the troopers into battle and quickly deploy them. After which it serves and an attack gunship in their combined arms tactics, providing close air support for the troops below, it is often one of the first assault elements to make contact in battles.

Of all the LAAT/i pilots, Sergeant Duke is considered to be an exceptionally talented one. Duke uses his skills to evade incoming enemy fire and flack to deploy his troops on the ground below. He is also known as the Duke of Puke, after a joint operation with the 501st who’s troopers couldn’t handle the violent maneuvers.

There brigade also created a specially designed LAAT known as the LAAT/k, the k is for “Killer.” The killer is a heavily modified LAAT/i, many of its internal parts are reduced to only what is essential to fighting, almost eliminating its capabilities as a dropship. It then receives more armor plating, shielding, and upgraded engines.

But it’s in the category of weaponry that the full potential of the Killer is realized. In addition to the 2 mass-driver missile launchers, 8 air-to-air missies, 4 composite beam laser turrets, and the 3 anti-personnel turrets, the standard LAAT/i is outfitted with many other weapon systems.

The ship features fixed guns manned by the copilot/gunner; many of these are high-powered autocannons, laser cannons and projectile guns. Along the side of the troop compartment are flexible chainguns, autocannons, automatic grenade launchers manned by troopers inside and used to gun down enemy infantry. It holds numerous types of missiles, air-to-ground, air-to-air, anti-tank/armor, anti-personnel, and capable of being guided to the targets. The Killer has many of these mounted on missile racks internally or on hardpoints on the wings. The Killer features mostly unguided rockets, sometimes in the form of the Helka6 rocket pod, containing 22x70mm unguided rockets in each pod. The ship can also act as a bomber, flying in low and fast, it releases an assortment of bombs from its hardpoints, ranging from gravity to cluster and incendiary, either dumb or guided.

Shuttles- Of all the shuttles and transports, they favor the Nu-Class Attack Shuttle above all others for both its robustness and firepower. The Kappa-class shuttle was also used to some extent, often to deliver mechanized infantry to the ground or the battlefields.

Artillery- When it comes to artillery, the brigade puts their same skill of marksmanship to work, using cannons to shoot out precise targets from a great distance. Captain Kadal is the artillery commander in charge of the Brigade’s artillery divisions; he is seen as an artillery genius capable of judging the trajectory and range of a target by eyesight alone.

They use a number of different guns, but the top of their list are the All Terrain Attack Pod, the AV-7 Anti-vehicle Cannon, the Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery, and the Unstable Terrain Artillery Transport

Captain Kadal and his men have developed many styles of attack with the big guns, among their favorites is “Smoke Shelling.” They will begin with a barrage of fragmentation and energy shells to help thin the lines, and force them to cover, when that is done they then fire smoke screen shells that help mask the battlefield, feigning an advance and tricking the enemy into quickly taking up their positions again, they begin shelling them with fragmentation and energy rounds again, with the added affect of the smoke screen to decimate the enemy lost in the clouds.

Armored- The Beskar Brigade is employs many types of armored vehicles and is very fond of vehicles with speed, durability, and most importantly, firepower. Vehicles like the All Terrain Armored Transports, All Terrain Tactical Enforcers, Heavy Assault Vehicle/wheeled A6 Juggernauts to great effect, as well as TX-130 Saber-class fighter tanks to out run and out gun the enemy.

The Heavy Assault Vehicle A6 Juggernauts are very popular with the brigade because of the firepower they can bring to bear. They also enjoy the speed these behemoths are capable of achieving. On more than one occasion, several Juggernauts would race each other across an open stretch of land.

Scout- When it comes to light fast transports, the Brigade turns to the tried and trusted BARC speeder and 74-Z speeder bikes for their great speed, and they also rely on the All Terrain Recon Transports for fast movements and attacks. When a bit more firepower is need, they will employ the use of the Infantry Support Platforms.

Martial Arts:

“It's time for an ass whoopin”- Captain Jones

The clones of the 37th Legion train in a variety of martial arts and other hand-to-hand combat methods. Many specialize in the unarmed combat styles of Teräs Käsi and Stava. Like their military operations, they favor fast, decisive strikes. They are trained to be fast, and many have the speed of clone assassins, making them faster then their template or fellow soldiers. Their martial arts are often mixed, giving them a certain amount of unpredictability, and will also use knives, vibroswords, and other melee weapons in their fighting styles.

Training:

“The boys of the Beskar Brigade are as tough as they come.”- Starla Winter

Upon receiving command of the 37th Legion, Andis took the entire legion to a special training program he and some military advisors designed. Andis funneled military funds into this training course, and hired 80 relatives, friends, and acquaintances to help train the men into a truly elite fighting force.

The training camp, on Mandallia, in the northern hemisphere, near a small ghost town, that was abandoned during the Mandalorian Civil War 20 years earlier. It is here the clones of Beskar Brigade become the elite of the GAR.

Since the entire Beskar Brigade complete this, smaller replacement units undergo the training camp before joining the 37th. At times the training camp may receive upwards of a regiment 2,664 clones, these clones would then join the brigades swelling ranks.

Course time: 1-2 Months

Stage 1- Stage 1 begin with field skills, such as intense physical training, melee combat instructions, team exercises, and marksmanship.

The Beskar Brigade puts a special importance on marksmanship. A significant portion of Stage 1 is spent rifle range, and by the end of Stage 1 every trooper is easily capable of shooting off the head of a battle droid at over 600 meters.

Stage 2- Stage 2 focuses on combat operations. It begins with a series of obstacle courses and training in various forms of combat. Urban Warfare, Small Unit Tactics, Close Quarters Combat, Special Reconnaissance, Night Fire Exercises, Assaults, and Field first aid are all studied, practiced, and mastered.

Stage 3- Stage 3 is where skills and knowledge are honed and tested. The clones begin by training in the specialized unarmed combat styles of Teräs Käsi and Stava.

They also practice in under more realistic combat conditions, including live fire and exercises. Explosives and pyrotechnics are placed around the battlefield to simulate shelling. Other skills practiced and honed are camouflage and concealment, navigation, and more.

The Forge- The final phase is known as the Forge, it is the culmination of all the skills, tactics, and knowledge in an intense series of exercises and challenges both physical and mental. Some of these things include a grueling 50 miles of marching, daytime assaults, nighttime assaults, obstacle courses, and more.

Many of the challenges are made far more difficult with the addition of limitations such as carrying extra weight such as extra ammunition, evac for team members with simulated wounds. One test simulates standard combat situations with demanding testing, hardship, and the deprivation of food and sleep. They go 48 hours with only 3 MREs and 4 to 8 hours of sleep. The final challenge is a forced march up the side of a steeply inclined mountain and the return charge down it.

Post-Course Completion- Once the training course is completed, the men join up with the rest of the Brigade that has already taken it. They do training exercises between ships, taking turns boarding and capturing the “enemy” starship.

Looting

“We know how to break the will of the Separatists.” -Andis Meyer

When the Beskar Brigade moves into Separatist space, the army will often do pillaging, emptying out separatist bank vaults and war chests, and taking food, fuel, supplies, valuables, and anything else deemed necessary. When anyone questioned their actions, Andis justified their actions by referring to how planets the Separatists conquered had been looted such as Ryloth, on top of the other atrocities the Separatists committed.

The pillaging serves two purposes; one, to help finance the acquisition of new and better gear, weaponry, etc that is not issued or paid for by the Republic, and two, to deny the Separatists of assets that could be used to rebuild their military capabilities. The pillaging also serves another, unseen purpose, it’s psychological impact on the Separatist populace and military personnel, demoralizing them and breaking their will to continue the fight. Several planets have even surrendered upon seeing the Brigade’s fleet rather than be devastated by the Brigade’s ruthless tactics, although, many stories these planets have heard are grossly exaggerated.

Among the big targets are items such as weaponry and equipment. They take both to be either used, or sold, and in the case of weaponry, some clones enjoy collecting various blasters. They also take useful materials, to be used in things like DC-15r Dragon repeater, one such key component is the metal Dalite.

They take anything of value they can find, be it precious metals and stones, credits, bonds, stocks, and other items. They march through cities clearing out bank vaults and buildings. The clones will also keep some of the spoils for themselves, so that as Andis says, it can be a nest egg for after the war ends. Many of the clones have amassed small fortunes.

Another important aspect of their looting is the quest for supplies. As they are constantly on the move they will eventually need refueling, and if they are in Separatist space they will take it by force. They also attack fuel tankers either draining the ship or commandeering it into the fleet. Food is also important, the brigade is constantly in need of food of any kind to feed the army’s stomachs, be it fruit, any kind of meat, vegetables, and whatever else can be eaten. Wine and liquor are also targets, cellars are often raided and cleaned out and the booze is distributed amongst the men.

Other things are stolen as well, some items are used to improve life onboard the ship, some food related such as Thermapads, Thermajugs, Refrigerators, and Coffee machines are taken. Furniture, Datapads, and Holovid screens are also very popular items; many clones used them to furnish their rooms and quarters on the ship. Most clones have a holovid screen of some sort in the Brigade. They also collect a number of other random items from their own individual tastes; Andis and Starla often enjoy looking at their strange collections.

Day to day life

“Boredom is like a parasite that eats away at you until you loose you’re mind, you kill it by having fun.”- Corporal Docan, prior to buttering the floor of a main passageway prior to a practice drill.

On an average day when not in combat, the Brigade often works on the maintenance of their ships, conducting repairs as necessary. They also work on modifying the ships, working on attaching new weaponry, such as the Munificent’s prow turbolaser cannons. Others work on modifying the Brigades gear and weaponry, using machine shops onboard the ships they build things like the Brigade Special and DC-15r Dragon.

Others train; keeping in peak physical shape, lifting weights and running, many will race against each other. They will also spar in hand-to-hand combat fighting against to learn and improve on each other’s strengths. Blaster practice is also a very popular thing to pass the time; the clones will pass the time shooting at targets down the length of the Venator Star Destroyers, often placing bets on the shots.

Aside from the battling the Separatists, the men of the Beskar Brigade also battled boredom. To combat this many clones will watch various shows and things on the Holonet, using the countless screens they had “acquired,” many will also use these screens to watch movies and gaming. Many will also enjoy reading either holobooks or finding interesting articles on the net.

Some clones will take up cooking, utilizing stolen cooking equipment and advice of Andis a master chef, many become talented cooks, supplying the troops with good and varies food, which also boost morale. After the war some would even open successful restaurants. Another popular activity is playing various games, while board games are popular, many will play card games, gambling with credits and other valuables at stake.

The Brigade is also considered one of the more lively units some will take to playing an instrument, they will play them to the tune of a song, and often drinking is involved. It is also considered to be very rowdy at times, there is more than one still on each ship, made from various scrap parts and junk they use these things to brew beer and liquor. Sometimes too much and arguments that lead to brawls aren’t unheard of.

Others are known for their antics, some are well known pranksters; others will race speeder bikes down the flight decks of the destroyers. When the ships are in port, a number of the clones will disembark to go chasing woman. On a number of occasions, kiddie pools can be found on the flight decks, troopers will often lounge around in these downing a beer.

Many clones will take up a hobby some will collect things, painting, model building, and various other types of crafts. It’s through these leisurely pursuits that the Brigade not only crushes the Separatists but also the enemy known as boredom.

Flagship:

The Relentless: A modified Venator-class Star Destroyer, it carries heavier weapons and stronger shields as well as a modified docking port on the side for the Black Scabbard, a Modified Maka-Eekai L4000 transport used by Andis and Starla to conduct special operation missions.

Captain Bull is the Battleship Commander of the Relentless, with his expertise in naval warfare; he manages the operations of the Brigades Fleet. Bull often serves as the naval operations commander during planetary assaults. He enjoys the tactic of orbital bombardment in a style he calls “the Dazzler.”

Other Ships: Among a few of the other ships in the fleet include the Audacious, Dauntless, Defiance, Defiant, Endurance, Fearless, Gallant, Harpoon, Persistent, Undaunted, Unrelenting, Valiant, Valor, Valorous, Victor, Victorious.

The Battalions: At the beginning of the Beskar Brigade’s existence it consisted of 16 battalions named after various weapons; Saber, Spear, Dagger, Sykes, Tanto, Ax, Kopis, Scythe, Xiphos, Sword, Lance, Spike, Scimitar, Flyssa, Thorn, and Razor. Since its induction into the war the number of battalions in the Legion has increased due to the constant incoming of replacements and low casualty rate. Of the battalions, Saber is considered to be the vanguard of the unit, the elite within the elite.
